Human sciences in reflections on contemporary design: a critical exploration on culture and humanity in design theories and practices (last 20 years)

Starting from a delimitation of what could be considered human sciences and anthropology (particularly from French authors such as Lévi- Strauss, Bourdieu, and Latour), the aim is to characterize a set of articles that serve as reference bibliography for the seminar on Advanced Topics in Design and Creation, part of the PhD program in Design and Creation at the University of Caldas. The goal is to identify the closeness between designers and human sciences in the past twenty years while exploring the definitions and uses of Research through Design (RtD). By posing three questions regarding the understanding of RtD and human sciences, the intention is to recognize common starting points among these articles, seeking to generate a set of generalizations around these two aspects. All of this is done with the purpose of providing an initial panoramic view of the state of this matter and promoting more relevant forms of transdisciplinary dialogue.
