Abstract

This article does not attempt to answer whether there is a greater biological propensity of men to violence or whether the differences between the sexes are a cultural and modifiable issue. Conceiving peace as a broader concept, which requires greater equality and tends to seek a solution to all possible conflicts, this article reviews the reality of conflicts and the way in which they affect men and women in different ways, as well as the different roles they play. This examination highlights the differences that occur in conflicts and the need to deal with them bearing in mind these realities, and ends up raising a possibility of moving forward while reaching the goal set by the United Nations, which is the perspective used for the review, and that it consists of incorporating the gender perspective in everything related to peace operations.
