Abstract

This paper deals with the relationship between the United States and Europe since the creation of the so-called Atlantic Alliance or Transatlantic Community in the context of the post-World War to the present day. The expectations and challenges posed by the transformations of the international system to this strategic partnership, both since the end of the Cold War and after transnational terrorism entered the scene, are analyzed and commented on from the perspective of the foreign policy of the United States and the United States and its impact on European views and behaviors. Thus, questions are raised that point to a critical observation of the Atlantic relationship and that attempt to explain the approaches and distancing of said society in a changing world, with renewed international roles of its most relevant actors, as well as the potentialities for permanence and consolidation of this historical experience.
