Abstract

Conflict resolution began in the mid-twentieth century as a multidisciplinary approach to address the phenomenon of social conflict and over the decades it has been transformed into a discipline based on a broad theoretical and conceptual framework. However, it is since 1990, and given the changes that the international system has undergone, that conflict resolution has become an obligatory reference to complement traditional analyzes on international conflicts. The analytical tools developed by other authors have been retaken and perfected by their followers, many of them being applied accurately to internal conflicts with transnational effects. However, the search for coherence between the principles that drive conflict resolution and the classic paradigms of international relations is still pending. This article tentatively addresses some possible lines of this debate.
