Abstract

After long years of rivalry and mistrust, Argentina and Brazil began to build a comprehensive, broad, and effective mechanism for the control and supervision of their nuclear programs, to the point of serving as a regional model for the global non-proliferation regime. The quadripartite agreement (the result of other previous agreements in the economic, political and subregional security areas) evidences the intention of the two main leaders of the region to advance in the consolidation of mutual trust mechanisms in the nuclear field and dual technology. In this way, cooperation is elevated, at a level of greater and clearer transparency, creating more effective and democratic conditions in terms of global security.
