Abstract

Economical, technological and political circumstances, as well as the will to generate urban transformations, enabled the introduction of highrises in Santiago and Valparaiso in the 20's. The downtown areas in these cities underwent important changes in their public spaces, altering the urban image in the financial and civic centers.
