This article explores the pedagogical experience of the course Representation IV: Advanced Techniques with AI, developed at the School of Architecture of the University Gabriela Mistral, which investigates how the incorporation of generative artificial intelligence tools enables the exploration of emerging socio-environmental issues in the context of climate change in Chile. From a critical perspective, the article examines the risks associated with these technologies—bias, resource consumption, and social effects—and proposes a methodology of graphic imagination that addresses both their potential and their challenges. The methodological approach is framed within critical pedagogies and speculative design,
positioning speculative representation as a means to project architectural and territorial scenarios in threatened environments. The course works with local socioenvironmental conflicts documented in the Human Rights Institute’s Conflict Map and transforms them into speculative climate narratives mediated by AI, produced with GPT and MidJourney. The article argues that teaching socio-environmental conflicts in architecture requires not only understanding scientific reports but also translating them into critical fictions capable of raising awareness and mobilizing students toward active engagement with possible, desi-
rable, and undesirable futures.
