Abstract

If the scientif method of the Modern Era supported contributions to the Modern Movement, however, in the second half of the 20th century, some architects looked at historical continuity and referred to typology as an instrument of the architectural project. In the case of The National Roman Art Museum of Mérida (1981-1985), Rafael Moneo adopted an intellectual framework in line with Ortega’s philosophy of “vital reason” (reason with life as it’s foundation). This leads us to reflect on the value of time as a fundamental aspect of architectural project. In this respect these instincts are not foreign to current philosophical ideas, in the sense of rethinking concepts inherited from Antiquity; it helps us address the challenges that architectural discipline faces today.
