Planning and urban development of Iquique between 1930 and 1970.

Abstract

How the processes of regulation and planning in the city begin, who were the managers in these processes and what were the political, social and urban actions that were developed in pursuit of planning the city throughout modern times, are some of the motivations for getting into a period of major urban decisions that have had an impact until today, which consolidated and shaped the contemporary city. The historical and urban processes prior to the last urban planning instrument in force during 1981 in Iquique and the scope of the initial urban regulation during the outbreak of the modern movement between 1930 and 1970, along with the involvement of the institutions of that period, make possible to set the growth logic and urban planning of the current Iquique.
