This article discusses the design process, intrinsically linked to creativity, when mediated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The study aimed to analyze pedagogical application frameworks of text-to-image generative AI in two Architecture and Urbanism courses with distinct approaches. The exploratory research examined case studies of this integration and proposed guidelines for its use. The courses, taught in 2024 over thirty hours to approximately twenty students, indicate that the effectiveness of AI depends on prompt strategies that prioritize sensory and contextual language over technical terminology, overcoming the tools’ generalist tendencies. The students’ critical engagement, documented through design journals, proved decisive in generating more original proposals. It is concluded that AI, when integrated into a reflective pedagogical framework, acts as a catalyst for autonomy and creativity in learning, with strategies adaptable to other curricular contexts.
